Keum Boo
This is the ancient Korean technique of fusing gold to silver.
The silver is taken through a long process of depletion gilding to prepare the metal.
The silver is then heated to a temperature high enough so that at a molecular level, minute gaps are created. The 24ct, or pure gold is applied whilst maintaining the temperature to ensure that a permanent bond is created when removed from the heat – ensuring longevity.
Pure gold is striking in colour – deep and lustrous.
The benefit of this technique is the beautiful gold look, achieved using real gold but without either the hefty price tag or the vulnerability of such a soft metal if it was used exclusively for a design.
Jewellery by Annamarie uses thick pure gold on silver for Keum Boo.
Comparisons:-
Gold plated jewellery (sometimes called gold plaque) is created by applying a thin layer of gold to silver using electrical or chemical deposition – it can also be applied to base metals, such as copper or brass. This layer is usually between 0.175 and 2.5 microns. Flash plating (or gilt) tends to be even thinner.
This coverage can achieve beautiful results but will fade and wear away in time – especially in high contact areas such as ring shanks and chains.
Jewellery by Annamarie uses between 14 – 32 microns of gold, fusing it to the silver at a molecular level, ensuring hard wearing items with an extremely long lifespan.

What are my postal options?
At checkout customers will be given postal options, whether for domestic post or international shipping. The options include Standard Post and Special Delivery. For UK purchases Royal Mail Special Delivery is the recommended option. It is tracked and insured. Any errant package can be traced and in the rare event of an unrecoverable package I can offer a refund or a replacement. If you choose standard Royal Mail I cannot guarantee delivery and cannot offer a refund in the case of non-delivery.
For International purchases the recommended postage is Special Delivery. This ensures the mail is tracked and signed for.
When will I receive my jewellery?

Your jewellery purchase will be despatched in 3 working days, following the receipt of payment. This applies to ‘in stock’ items. At checkout, if you choose Standard Post for a UK purchase, expected delivery is 3-5 working days. If you choose the recommended Special Delivery for UK purchase, expected delivery is next working day. For international purchases the estimated delivery times vary dependant on the country of destination.
For Made to Order items, 4-6 weeks is required for making and processing.

These are guidelines and I will of course endeavour to send out items as quickly as possible but not later than outlined above.

Commissions and custom made items are discussed and agreed individually.

What if I want to return my purchase?

Jewellery by Annamarie cannot be responsible for damages that may occur during transit. For this reason I recommend either insuring your purchases or choosing the Tracked & Signed For Special Delivery postal option.

One of a Kind Jewellery

For One of a Kind remakes there is no identical stock kept and whilst I can create similar products, many items cannot be replicated depending on the components ie., the gemstones. I can produce very similar work but as all items are handmade there will be slight differences.
